L Lawliet, also known as L and Ryūzaki, is the main antagonist of the Death Note franchise. He is the leader of the Japanese Task Force and the arch-nemesis of Light Yagami.
What Makes Him a Main Light Horse?[]
- As one of the most iconic heroic antagonists in the anime history, L serves as a wonderful adversary and foil to the series' villain protagonist Light Yagami. Both of them are highly intelligent masterminds with a strong desire to win, and their battle of wits composes the entire plot across the series.
- In the first half of the story, L shares nearly the same amount of screentime with Light and the viewpoint constantly changes between them, possibly because creators realized focusing the story entirely on a villain as reprehensible as Light would make it too hard to watch and root for.
- He is a brilliant mastermind and strategist, showing lots of clever tactics and reasoning ability across the story.
- He also has many interesting characteristics such as eating desserts or standing on odd position, making him highly memorable.
- He has a cool theme song which is considered one of the best musics in Death Note.
